Biscuit Barrel are a sketch-comedy group who produce 'The 69-Sketch Show' and perform as a quickfire act on the UK comedy and cabaret circuits.

​

Founded in 2016, their shows incorporate TikTok's destruction of the human attention-span with an exhilaratingly hyper-paced comedy experience.

​

Since 2023, their shows have sold over 4,000 tickets across Edinburgh and other festivals throughout the UK.

​

As seen at Edinburgh Fringe, Brighton Fringe, Leicester Comedy Festival, Winchester Comedy Festival (at Theatre Royal Winchester, Durham Fringe, Guildford Fringe, Greater Manchester Fringe, and London Comedy Film Festival.

Beyond their stage shows, the group also provide workshops and education services. In 2024, the 'Biscuit Barrel: Sketch-Comedy for Stage' module was launched at the Pauline Quirke Academy.

​

JAMES HORSCROFT

Nominated for the David Nobbs Memorial Trust's Comedy- Writing Award, James is the founder of Biscuit Barrel Comedy.

 

Mentored by Dinos Aristidou under New Writing South's Young Writers program, James has had worked featured on BBC Radio Bristol and at London Comedy Film Festival. He has also had short-subject work published in The Student Wordsmith and Reflex Fiction.

​

James is active across both Bristol and his hometown Brighton. As of 2023, he has been an elected Artist Observer to the Board for Brighton Fringe.

 

James performed his first comedy sketch at a school talent show when he was fifteen years old, attending university with the predetermined intention of starting a sketch group. Founding Biscuit Barrel in 2016, no one's told him to stop yet.

DARYL JOSEPH READER

 

Daryl is best known as DazzReviews; a YouTube platform with an international outreach of over 500,000 subscribers and 100-million views.

 

Daryl has been growing his YouTube platform since he was fifteen-years-old. The channel specialises in discussing animation, varying between reviewing animated movies, reacting to production news, and mini documentaries about cancelled animated projects.

 

As part of Biscuit Barrel, Daryl has contributed to some of the group's best-received sketches (no spoilers), as well as its most energetic physical performer. Joining the group from the get-go at The University of Winchester, Daryl is one of the original members.

CAPRIELLA MONIQUE

Standing at just five-subways long, Capriella is a young comedian from Bristol. She was a Stand-up for Cider Finalist in 2021, New Online UK Comedian of the Year Finalist in 2020, and Fringe Act of the Year semi-finalist in 2023.

 

Capriella's a regular in the southwest comedy scene with her unconventional humour and musical comedy. She started performing stand-up comedy when I was 16, incorporating music into the act at 18 and hasn't looked back since.

 

She likes to create musical comedy to break boundaries and help people laugh at topics they would normally think are taboo. Joining Biscuit Barrel whilst at The University of Winchester in 2018, Capriella is one of the earlier members of the group. In addition to performing, she contributes to the show's song- numbers.

LILY MARYON

 

Lily is a 'Sketch Off 2024' semi-finalist, a sketch and character competition run by Leicester Square Theatre.

 

Lily is an actor, writer and comedian, known on the Bristol alternative circuit for her character-comedy, said character being troubled/unhinged children's party entertainer Princess Sparkles. As Sparkles,

 

Lily has previously made appearances at Bristol Old Vic and The Pen Theatre. In 2024, Princess Sparkles also made her Edinburgh Fringe solo debut! With bigger plans on the way.

 

Lily joined Biscuit Barrel in late 2022 and, in addition to performing in the shows, also contributed some gut- busting sketches

HARRY BROWN

 

Joining the group in 2023, Harry is the newest member of the group.

 

Harry studied musical theatre at Mountview and, more importantly, is a formidable beatboxer.

 

He is active on the Bristol circuit as a stand- up comedian and runs monthly gig 'Lounging Around Comedy Night'. As part of the Barrel, Harry also contributes to the writing of the show.

HOLLY MEECHAN

 

Holly is also an actor and director, with a background in theatre. She has since trained in comedy with numerous teachers and companies including Phillipe Gaulier, Spymonkey's Aitor Basuri & Toby Park, Gemma Arrowsmith, The Free Association and Monkey Toast. She performs regularly on stage with improv team Rhinoceros and in 'The Bish Bosh Bash Show' at Bristol Improv Theatre and was previously a performer for Gingerline and writer and performer for Sketch podcast Release the Clowns.

​

Holly is a highly experienced facilitator, having run workshops for over twenty years to a wide variety of groups in corporate, educational and community settings; working for companies including Bristol Old Vic, Shakespeare Schools Foundation, Freshwater Theatre, Tobacco Factory Theatres, Fifth Word and Join the Dots.

 

Holly joined The Biscuit Barrel in 2021, with whom she continues to perform, and has directed both the 2023 and 2024 productions.
